My 8 year-old's favorite "toy"

We recently bought this to replace an ancient hand-me-down sewing machine. We needed a whole bunch of cushions & pillows made for some outdoor furniture we'd bought. After choking on some quotes from pros: my wife decided to give it a go on her own.

The machine performed flawlessly through nearly 30 yards of heavy duty sunbrella fabric & many, many linear feet of hvy duty zippers. Not a single broken needle. Very easy to set/maintain desired tension. She was very pleased with it.

Other than the upholstery stuff (which only req'd basic stitches), my wife hasn't used it for anything else yet.

However, my daughter has really taken a liking to it. She'd never sewed a stitch in her life- but after some *very* minimal instruction, she's embarked on all sorts of projects. She's made a couple of skirts, an apron, and a shawl. She threads the machine herself- including the bobbin. Changes out the foot & needle. Knows how to adjust all the various settings (I'm sure she's tried them all out by now on all the remnants she keeps buying with her saved money). As good a testament as any to ease-of-use.
