Amazon.com Review
A good starter machine for garment construction and mending, this sewing machine from Brother includes 25 built-in stitches. These range from zigzag to shell tuck to blind hem settings, and there's also an automatic four-step buttonhole function. In addition, a twin needle setting lets you sew a double line with two colors of thread for a smart decorative touch. The machine's design and features are straightforward and user-friendly, with some settings--stitch length and width--automatically set for simplified operation. It also sews in reverse and has dial-adjusted tension for tidy work. Sophisticated home tailors will find this machine too basic, but occasional and beginning sewers should get plenty of use from it and not much frustration.
Threading the machine is fairly simple, and winding the bobbin is speedy. The sewing machine's work surface switches from flat to free arm for cuffs and pant legs, and the interchangeable feet have a snap-on construction. An integrated storage area keeps extra feet, needles, and bobbins tidy. Built with a handle and a work light for ease and convenience, the sewing machine comes with a zipper foot, a buttonhole foot, a button-sewing foot, a set of needles, a twin needle, a set of bobbins, and a darning plate. Brother includes a 1-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

Nice Sewing Machine for light work
by Customer A4N8U746XPTSJ at July 15th, 2008
This is a nice sewing machine for day to day simple work. Hard to use on think cloth and beware, trying to use it on Jeans may break it or at least Jam it. But for light work, it works flawless. Have been using more than a year and still working. Good value for price paid.

The Sewing Machine is a basic one and is an excellant choice for beginners to mid-level sewers who need to do basic stitching and repairs around the house.
Good Basic Machine
by Customer A2QHASR3LUQX3H at October 29th, 2006
This machine would not win any awards for engineering or design, but its a great basic practical machine. My wife has had this for about 2 months & thinks she's already saved same amount of money as the cost by using it for misc stitches & making misc items. Again, a great basic machine.
simple to use

Great machine!
by Customer A3UDVGSD0OKYDG at October 15th, 2006
This is my very first sewing machine of my own. It sews like a dream! I have made quite a few quilts with it, and never had a problem. But if you want a machine with some beautiful quilting stitches, skip this one. This is a very basic machine. I highly recommend this for anyone getting into sewing for the first time.
