A real lemon

I have been sewing for forty years. I owned another Singer machine that gave me no problems for 20. I purchased this Singer Featherweight in May. I have used it exactly three times. The first time it seemed sluggish and noisy, but went through its paces OK. The second time the needle broke twice for no apparent reason. The third time I was trying to sew one of the decorative stitches and the machine started hesitating and smoking. It leaked black lubricant all over the white (of course) material and then the mechanism froze up entirely. What a piece of junk. I should have had my old one reconditioned
