Any experienced sewer knows that there's a lot more to the craft than a needle and thread. Each task necessitates specific equipment to accommodate the specific garment, be it the right shade of thread, size, color, and style of button, or type of fastener. Stick or safety pins may be required to hold a hem in place. Different fabrics demand different sizes of needles. A sewer often accumulates the tools of the trade over many years. After collecting this array of knick-knacks, organized storage presents another dilemma. For such a conundrum, Smart Kit offers their Classic Sewing Basket. Gracefully adorned, the basket provides a home for the minutiae of sewing and comes equipped with all the basic accessories to get a project started.
For lugging around the house or beyond, Smart Kit attaches a sturdy carrying handle to the basket's exterior. A Velcro fastener holds the basket lid closed. Resting on the rim inside the basket, a removable plastic tray provides expansive storage for miscellaneous spools, measuring tape, thimbles and more. Patterns, fabric scraps, and garments-in-progress can be stowed below the tray. The basket includes 12 different colors of thread for flexibility and a needle threader. Small boxes separately contain snap fasteners, pearl pins, stickpins, safety pins, hand sewing needles, and small white buttons. A pair of 5-inch scissors snip away unwanted strings. I wanted to give this to my granddaughter for her first basket but I wouldn't never give anyone such a cheaply made item as this!

This is a bad deal

Very disappointed with the quality of this sewing box. The lid did not close properly and the piece of valcro that was supposed to keep it closed fell off almost right away. It is not worth the money I paid for it.

Poorly constructed. Handle was already unravelling on arrival. The rope trim on the handle had already begun to unravel. The tab closure was half sewn in and half off. The inner tray was made of a very thin and low quality plastic.

Nice product but the handle is too tight, it will not fold all the way back and will wear down the corners. When trying to widen it the handle broke.
smells funny

I bought this for my 10 year old, and she's happy with it. However, it has a strange odor to it, like mold or mildew. Yuck!! It doesn't appear to have mold or mildew actually on it, but it may be hard to tell given the colors in the fabric, and I definitely agree with the other reviews about the poor quality.
